About This Product

St. Augustine is a coarse-leaf, warm-season turfgrass prized for tolerating full sun, moderate shade, and intense summer heat. If you like lawns kept a little taller, a St. Augustine lawn is for you — its thick blades give a soft, cushioned surface, and it establishes quickly into a dense, blue-green carpet. It's the most desirable of the coarse-textured warm-season lawns. It's best suited to light foot traffic — small dogs, light child play, or occasional backyard sports — and needs at least 3–4 hours of direct, unfiltered sunlight plus regular deep watering. Heat tolerance is high; cold tolerance is low, so it performs best in warm-winter climates (Zone 8b and warmer). Availability note: Super-Sod harvests St. Augustine in 16" × 24" pieces (450 sq ft per pallet) and offers it only in Texas.
